EIR

What does EIR mean?

The employer information requirement (EIR) also originates from ISO 19650. It is available as an internal template for all of the company's BIM projects before a specific project starts and serves to ensure the consistently high quality of all BIM projects.

At the start of the project, it is provided to the contractors specifically for this project.

It contains the relevant objectives of the client, the requirements for the project participants and, above all, the procedures that lead to successful implementation. In detail, this includes the regulation of the project organisation, the individual roles and their responsibilities, the specifications for collaboration, the various use cases and the technical guidelines for the Level of Information (LOI) and Level of Geometry (LOG).

Particularly when creating an EIR for the first time, care must be taken to ensure that the use cases and data structure are aligned with the client's needs and that the results precisely fulfil the target definitions.

To this end, not only the client's own software landscape must be considered, but also existing processes in particular. A BIM project scrutinises many of these processes, but also integrates itself into processes that are already functioning well.

The EIR serves as the basic document for the BIM execution plan (BEP). This specifically addresses the mutual needs and contributions of all parties involved.

One of the main objectives of an EIR is mutual understanding between the client and contractors in order to successfully complete the project together.
