Time

In addition to the three spatial dimensions, time is the fourth dimension, e.g. delivery time, construction time.
This dimension is implemented by linking the model elements to processes in (conventional) schedules.

In this way, construction process simulations can be created without having to write time-consuming and error-prone dates in characteristics. Linking the data also ensures that the responsibility for the content remains entirely in the respective sphere (e.g. planning - execution).

As part of the project initiation, a decision must be made as to the depth of the 4D simulation to be implemented. Depending on the project requirements, this can range from the simulation of traffic routing to specific timing in terms of lean management. The different simulation depths must be taken into account in the modeling specifications and the various BIM service specifications.
