Wiener Linien - BIM Strategie

Wiener Linien is a modern public transport company that operates all underground, tram and bus lines in Vienna. Around 8,700 employees ensure smooth operation.

Wiener Linien offers its services as an integrated public transport company. This means that Wiener Linien is responsible for all transport operations as well as for the vehicle fleet and the entire infrastructure. In addition to the necessary infrastructure for an efficient underground railway network with 83 km of lines and the sixth largest tram network in the world with over 220 km of lines, this also includes underground and tram depots, bus garages, workshops and administration buildings.

The project is laying the foundations for sound BIM projects at Wiener Linien. The aim is to create added value not only for planning and execution, but also for operations. After completing the basic survey and providing sample tender documents for BIM projects, workshops were held for specific trades. Finally, contractual bases and a data structure tailored to the specific requirements and systems used by Wiener Linien were created.
