AIR

What does AIR mean?

The asset information Requirement (AIR) originates from ISO 19650. The AIR defines the operator's long-term requirements for the data structure and level of detail based on data management. The AIR is created independently of the project by the operator (usually within the company) and serves as a company-wide basis for creating project-specific EIRs.

An early definition of the operational requirements helps the project participants to achieve a targeted realisation as early as the planning and execution phases. At the end of these phases, the relevant data is handed over to operations in an organised manner. This includes not only the models, which must be geometrically defined for functional operation, but also the information that each element contained in the models must contain for operation.

According to ISO 19650, the AIR should serve as the basis for the employer information requirement (EIR). In practice, this is usually done today by clients who operate facility management in-house.
