New solutions for Building Information Modelling in technical building services.

Role:
project partners
Project coordinator:
Technische Universität Graz
Status:
service completed
Project period:
2021 - 2024

The aim of this research project is to design a methodology for the development of data and process models and to apply these to the modelling of selected TGA systems as an example. The focus is on, but not limited to, the renewable heating technologies heat pumps, solar thermal and biomass as well as ventilation systems. Due to their importance, these technologies must be an integral part of open BIM data and process models. The data and process models developed in the research project will be evaluated as part of two pilot projects in Vienna and Graz with the involvement of scientific support. The project results will be published in a TGA-BIM guideline and incorporated into BIM working groups in relevant committees. The target group for the results includes building owners, MEP planners, architects, MEP contractors and facility managers. They also play a role for MEP component manufacturers, especially for manufacturers of the renewable heating and ventilation technologies focussed on in the project, as they will have to make high-quality BIM models of their components available in the future.
